Respirator Fit Testing
We can come to your site office or shop an conduct a quantitative fit test to ensure that your employees are wearing the appropriate size repirator.
As per Worksafe Regulation 8.40 employers are required to provide workers with appropriate respirators wherever workers are exposed to hazardous substances in the air. This includes gases, vapours, dusts, fibres, mists, fumes & bio-aerosols. Different hazards require different types of respirators, so it’s important to choose the right respirator for the breathing hazards in your workplace. Some respirators must also be fitted with the correct filter/cartridge in order to be effective.
We use the qualitative method in accordance with CSA Standards which is a pass/fail method that uses sense of smell/taste with your reaction to an irritant in order to detect leakage into the respirator. Reliable uses Bitrex (bitter) and Saccharin (sweet) agents during exams to identify a pass or fail.
